LABYRINTH OF LOSS, LABYRINTH OF LIFE - RETREAT

  • The Oratory Campus 434 Charlotte Avenue Rock Hill, SC, 29730 United States (map)

While The Oratory is a Catholic organization, this Retreat is sacred but non-religious. Their generosity in sharing their space with us is deeply appreciated.

This weekend of rest and nourishment will provide a supportive, small group experience using various creative and grounding activities. The experiences will both explore the pain and challenge of grief as well as offer tools for affirming the life we are in.

We will share group walking meditations on an indoor labyrinth, we will write together - using offered prompts as desired, we will witness and support one another with structured sharing, at a level comfortable for each individual, and we will have opportunities to explore our losses through art.

There will be time available for private, contemplative space, as well as opportunity to schedule private sessions for Spiritual Direction, Reiki, and Intention Centered Yoga and Art. Cost for private sessions will be determined by the providers.  You may learn more about your retreat facilitators here.

While the Oratory campus is always available for enjoying the fresh air, the beautiful Glencairn Gardens are a short 3 blocks away and provide a special oasis for walking or simply sitting by one of the many water features.

August in the South is typically, oppressively, hot and humid. All facilities are air-conditioned, and we invite you to embrace outdoor conditions as a metaphor for the challenges we face as we walk the path of grief.

Cost?

The Retreat is priced at $270, including a single room with private bath, and $200 for commuter attendees, payable in full upon accepting your spot. Your registration fee is part of the total Retreat price.

Residential or Commuter?

There are a limited number of simple, single rooms with private baths available, for an additional $70 (inclusive for two nights). Each room is designed as a double, with two beds and two comfortable chairs; if you would prefer to room with someone, please let us know.

Commuters will either drive from their homes or book independent hotel reservations from the many accommodations available in this University town.

Food is not included in the fees. However, a shared refrigerator and microwave are available for all attendees to keep food on hand. There is a Earthfare grocery store and several restaurants within a half mile, with many more available at slightly greater distances, in Rock Hill. Additionally, food can be delivered through common apps such as DoorDash or GrubHub.
