SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

“Spiritual Direction encourages you to explore a closer relationship with God. In the midst of a busy life, many people find it difficult to notice God’s action in their daily affairs. Yet, at the deepest level, all of us long for a more conscious experience of God’s presence and love.

In Spiritual Direction, you reflect deeply on the experiences of your daily life. Gradually, as you contemplate, you may begin to recognize God’s presence and grace in your life. You may come to realize how God’s spirit is truly with you every day and everywhere. Our Work

The Charlotte Spirituality Center offers spiritual formation, individual spiritual direction sessions, workshops, retreats, and a three-year certified program for Spiritual Directors in the Jesuit/Ignatian tradition. Through prayer, study, journaling, meeting with a certified spiritual director and practical ministry experiences, our students develop a more personal relationship with God. Students are introduced to a variety of prayer styles and theologies and develop the skill of "holy listening." After completing all the study, supervised spiritual direction and requirements— with prayer, supervision and personal reflection—students will receive a certificate marking their completion of the program for a Spiritual Director. We envision that our educational offerings will produce spiritual transformations that enlighten and encourage religious, lay ministers, hospital chaplains and all individuals through the practice of Spiritual Direction. We conceive of a Spiritual Center open to all faiths that will earn a reputation as the area's leading training center for Spiritual Directors.
